Matt Cook

Dr. Matt Cook is an economist, Los Angeles Times bestselling author, award-winning symphonic composer, and executive film producer based in Los Angeles. He is known for telling stories through writing, music, magic, and numbers.
His latest work, the Braveship Symphonic Suite, a narrated multimedia spectacular, was honored with a Hollywood Music in Media Award. This international project features contributions from over 150 artists and virtuosos from more than 20 countries. "Braveship" has also been adapted as a full-length novel and is in production as a video game.
Cook's other literary works include the Los Angeles Times bestselling thriller Sabotage, which has been optioned for a video game adaptation, and Mr. 2, currently in development with Sony Television. His nonfiction book Sleight of Mind (2020) from MIT Press, exploring paradoxes in math, physics, and philosophy, was named among the "Top 10 Best Philosophy of Physics Books of All Time" by Book Authority.
With firsthand experience from over 185 countries, Dr. Cook infuses his compositions and narratives with international intrigue. A close-up magician trained at the Magic Castle, he has performed globally and often weaves sleight of hand into his lectures. He was honored with the President's Call to Service Award by President George W. Bush for his support of the military as creator of the international Mile-Long Yellow Ribbon Project.
